Session 2 - Assigment One Question

Question 1

Which departments within the company are integrated within the Order-to-Delivery process?

According to the OCE Computer company, there hv several paries are integrated within the Order-to-Delivery proceed. Like the Sales department with Warehouse and Logoistics department are getting involvied to the Order-to-delivery process from the daily basis...

Question 2

Which steps are included in the Order-to-Delivery process?

For example, there hv one new order which is just confirmed by the Sales department. They can quickly input the order requirments to the system such quantity, modle, price, delivery and address to issue an order sheet. The whole information will be rapriclly received by the Warehouse people from the system to do the inventory checking to see whether the stock is available or not. They can quickly to ensure the goods is in stock and prepare the delivery notice/packing list from the input data.. Once the goods is delivered, the Sales department will got the tracking nurmber from the warehouse people to inform their customer to receive the goods according to the tracking number.

Question 3

What factors would you consider when deciding whether ERP is suitable or not for a small business?

This is very subjust to the nature of the business instead of the size of the business.. The ERP is most suitable for the company which they hv their own supply chain business to co-operation and organization all the parties in one frame on the daily basis... This is very good to monitoring the status on-line and everybody know what's going on and how is the business running.. As u know, time is money... is your employee more efficiency they can do more... if the people can save the time from paperwork.. this is no doubt to enhance the business...... As as result ERP is good to apply for the small business if they hv own supply chain...

Actually every business has a supply chain, but some businesses have a longer supply chain, or a more complex supply chain made up of more companies that are geographically far apart. You may say that any company that wants to integrate its operations or share information in real-time with supply chain partners will need an ERP or any in-house integrated system.
